Saw Hed Pe live at Axis theater in Boston. 45 people max, but all true fans. The sound was all f-d up for opening acts and so they started an hour and 10 minutes late. They played parts of songs instead of whole versions, but it was totally sick. Insane energy./ Read up. Axis and Avalon are closing permanently. Glad I got to see an awesome band in an intimate environment before it was too late.

Son, you check do some homework before saying dumb things? This is a mix of cultures, her ascendecy is from Cabo Verde, West Africa. She mixes portuguese and "criôlo". She sings with the accent of Luso-Africans, which is very much alike with the brazillian accent. Check the history of your country. When the portuguese arrived, all there was were the indians. Then slaves were brought from Africa and they learn to speak portuguese.

If memory serves me right, Numb was released roughly the same time Joan Jett, L7 and Hole were doing their thing, so Hammerbox sorta got lost in the crowd of awesome female punk/grunge acts. But you can still score unopened copies of Numb on Amazon (that's where I got mine).

I'm glad I found out about this band from Road Rash for Sega and PS1. Numb is one of the most musically interesting and powerful albums I own. Carrie Akre is definately the best female singer I've ever heard. I'm glad beejaytoon mentioned Paw. I love them too and they should have been recognized along with Hammerbox.
