You can always say that "we had a better tank", but the truth is that Germany was always ahead in everything except numbers. you can say that you had the Pershing, but it was produced in small numbers, it could be compared against Königstiger. M10-tank killer was still far inferior to the great Jagdpanther. And it wasnt only the tanks, thanks to Guderian ja Rommel the Panzerarm and its tactics were developed by germany. Others used it in 1939, but Wehrmacht were the ones to know HOW to use them

True, the sherman vs tiger battle is unfair. Sherman was a medium and the tiger was a big heavy. The mark4-sherman comparison would be better. A Tiger's comparison would be better off with a pershing. The pershing was supposed to be on par with the panther but yet it handled the tigers and even killed a Kingtiger in it's first meeting.

The post battle field reports say otherwise, Pilots claimed hundreds of German tanks killed during D-Day.. In reality it was found that approx 45 German Tanks were destroyed by Allied air during the D-Day invation. The Germans had a hard time destroyiing French tanks during the BoF with its stuka. They needed a near direct hit.. so they changed bomb types, the frag pattern was used to destroy tracks.

Pershing entered the war at the very end, IIRC only 2 combat tank kills credited. M10 was very thinly armored except for the Mantle area and open topped. The M10, and M18 both where very fast, their tactic was shoot and scoot. The M36 TD sported the 90mm gun and was better armored. Its gun is just slightly better than the 88. But again this TD was a late to the battlefield - July of 44 was its production date.

5. The firefly in normandy ended up at around 700, hardly to few. 6. The US put the 76mm gun ALSO into the Sherman and it is better than the 88 at short range, worse at long range. 7. Sherman tanks had better HE rounds 8. US forces used the M10 TD for use against Tanks.. Sherman 75 was a infantry support tank.

1. This guy does not know what hes talking about. 2. APHE 88 round does not "bounce" and hard metal object inside - It penitrates and then explodes inside. 3. Shaped charge experiment is not comparable to actually APHE's internal distruction. 4. Tiger was slower but had less ground pressure and could go where the Sherman couldnt, with the exception of some bridges

I dont really get the hardon people have for Tiger vs Sherman. 120 Tigers in Normandy compared to over 2000 Shermans. Tigers made up 5% of the German Tanks in Normandy, better comparison would be the Mark 4 vs the SHerman since the Mark 4 was over 40% of the German panzer arm strength in Normandy.

King tiger was safe although it was a little fat. They have no evidence of it's armor being penetrated from the front. I suppose it was ideal for defense. There was also a monstrosity made called the jagdtiger, that was based on the KT's chasis, It too was oversized and underpowered even though it had a great gun.

but in terms of long range, we'd have a better survival chance being in a tiger. We'd have a better gun and be waiting for a t-34 to approach us. it wouldn't see us first but we would have the luck to see other tanks. Sometimes, especially with the tigers gun, it would be a one shot chance.
