ive ridden both the Duke 848 and the R6, and hands down, the 848 is somethingspecial, but i did go for the R6 1. its cheaper, and 2. the duke is just way too powerful atm. its in a class of its own, the extra 250cc really does help but you cant outrule the fact that the R6 does hold 1000cc bike around the circuits and it just looks sexual

don't let people tell you what to do, i am 18 and i ride a gsxr 1100. I had a cbr 600 and i loved it, but the 1100 was too good of a deal to pass up. No regrets.

Id be willing to bet money that any experienced European on a 250 or 400 would kick your hole on any of yer 600s because unlike ye they can actually ride the bikes on the limit! Have ye taken a look at this seasons MotoGP riders? 11 out of 18 are European... 3 are american. Joey Dunlop was Irish and he still raced 125s right up to the day he died. So grow up, grow a pair of balls and learn to ride with your head not your wallet before you go slagging Europeans for riding small bikes.

Ye just cant ride them to their full potential! Whats the point in riding the thing if your scared shitless riding the thing properly? People- why are you hating on DUCS??? From my experience, haters are those who CAN"T afford the DUC and thats OK- but 90% of the time, its the RIDER who makes the bike. And not the bike. Plus as much work your gunna be doing to your Duc its gunna cost you an extra 10k before you pay the duc off the gixer is the better buy here no questions asked Duc's are ok track bikes the best thing they got is there TCS (Traction Control System) other then that throw the 2300 buck into the gixer and you got a better bike that your not fixen every 100 miles

The two bikes I drool over yet there's no performance figures to show which is better, faster, more comfortable, etc... There certainly is an argument as to which is better. The Ducati does look better but dealer network and repair/maintenance (even with the new 2 year warranty) aren't as good as the Suzuki. For those who don't care about that, the bike might as well be disposable because riding the bike is as important as owning it.

Race track performance doesn't mean shit on the road. I was smacking down fools on R1's with my R6 because they had to constantly hold back while I could let my little 600 fly open throttle all the time. If you ride a v-twin sports bike you will understand why people will take slightly less top end performance for meaty torque. When you hit the back roads on a V-twin you don't worry about shifting gears you just gas it and go. V-twin is king in the real world. Try it before you talk shit.
