It's very difficult to make something that small with the features it has and make it cheaper really. Less is more as they say, and in the world of electronics thats deffinately true. The smaller a gadget is the more expensive it tends to cost to get the same sort of performance or features as it's big brother. It's quite amazing Intel managed to make CPU's capable of the speeds they did at these tiny sizes and at such low power consumption.

i wish they'd come down a little on the price. i really think it should be priced below the current aluminum macbooks. maybe at around 1099. but really and truely it is beautiful, and with its newest configurations with updated graphics performance and display port and speed bump over all i'd still be willing to buy it. i'd love an ultra light computer i could bring anywhere that's not as useless as a netbook!

Quite the opposite, they actually build the most solid notebooks on the planet, and even more so now with these new Macbooks with the unibody aluminum construction. Not a single other computer on the planet is as refined as the new Macbooks.

A stationary computer gets alot more cooling due to the noisy fan. THe portable ones dont and often have severe heat problems. So more expensive components are used. That and the rechargable battery thingie adds to the price.

Wow i like how they have all these features, but they NEGLECT THE IPOD CONNECTIVITY! What the hell?!?! the ipod has completely replaced the cd, the itv will replace dvds, high def content will become important but as someone that loves the increased room i've found in my car and media center, it'll be great to get rid of those dvd cases and stop worrying about scratching disks

There's more features we don't know about, one of which is the wireless standard. I used be a windows user, I switched last year. I know from using front row and my Mac that Apple understands two things: 1. Easy of use. 2. UI (user interface). I would bet money that this thing will be easier to use, than buttering toast.
