i live in oakland. i have nothing less than thankfulness to the denizen old timers of the real blues here. The Three Sisters After Hours was a spot where Lowell Fulson, Ray Agee, Bob Geddins, Beverly Stovall, Eddie Boyd & Jimmy Brown would play from midnight till sun up. Eddie boyd recorded an L.P. with Peter Green, and Eddie really liked Peter! Jimmy & Bev, are still playing, bless their hearts, and Peter is much loved, and always welcome here in oakland.

Well yeah, most groups mimed on American TV shows too, at that time. I was just disagreeing where you said that the technology wasn't able to faithfully record live shows then. I think it was able to, but lip syncing allowed the bands to quickly and easily show themselves "performing" a song exactly as it sounded on the record. That's all I'm saying...

I never said he's not good.... This whole argument started because I claimed, from a musician's perspective, that my humble opinion is that the David Coverdale version of this song was more interpreted, and I happened to like the music better in it, too. I strongly feel Coverdale had more depth, more soul, more interpretation.

Peter Green was at his peak in the 60's and is recognised by everyone that knows about blues guitar as one of the most sensual and talented players since the british blues revival . He had his demons, largely due to heavy drug use, and by the 70's was in a bad way. I'd suggest your influences are clearly elsewhere but listen and learn.

I'm talking UK tv. I suspect you're in the US? In the 60's it was common for groups to lip synch on UK tv shows. Later, there were one or two where bands played live - the Old Grey Whistle Test, being the one that stands out in my memory. This vid is from a POP show. Not sure which. Possibly Top of the Pops,(?) which ran for about 40 odd years until a few years ago. Most groups mimed on that.

Oh, I disagree, there's plenty of fine quality live music shows from that era. As a matter of fact, there's at least one video of the band performing live on the Playboy After Dark show. This might have just been them lip-syncing for some old variety show, or maybe it was done for promotional purposes -- the era's version of music videos.

Yea,I checked out that video-I've got a mind to give up living-it has to be probably the all time best Peter Green song,and one of the best songs I've ever heard.This is one of the very few songs that actually stops me dead in my tracks when I listen to it.
