To the person who posted this & to anyone who watches it, if you own a copy of the DVD "Frida...The DVD" from which this clip comes, you'll know that just before she wipes away her "tears" she was just asked by the interviewer to hum a few bars of one of ABBA's new songs from the upcoming album. (Voulez Vous) She politely declined & said "the children will just have to wait till it comes out." She was not crying nor was she sad; just wiping mascara from her eyes as two people already mentioned.

But I can see why you'd think she'd be crying if you also thought she and Benny had broken up and that this interview was held around the time ABBA was about to end, which it totally isn't!! Oh, I´m so glad that I found this. I´ve listened to the soundtrack over and over again and wanted to see the people who were behind the amazing voices. I would so want to see the whole musical that was in London. Too bad I missed it by being born a year after... I guess they didn´t tape it either? The Swedish lyrics to all songs sucks btw. I was fortunate to see the first preview in London. Then went back home to NYC to watch the political scene change. Suddenly the cold war was ending and the musical seemed dated in one short year. So we went to see the brilliantly sharp Chess of London become a gray washout on Broadway. It didn't help that Frank Rich had panned the London production. He was wrong. The whole show could be remounted as a period piece now. Get Chess back on the boards!!!

When the audience laughs afterwards to daddy Ingvar it's because Hagge (the host/interviewer) goes "She's a good daughter isn't she?" and Ingvar deadpans: "One of the best I've had!" =D And Agnetha goes; "Well thanks for that..!" ;) They have written this song together (that they sing). Agnetha the music and daddy Ingvar the lyrics. He was into showbiz aswell, one of those good old entertainer and singers!!

Lovely rendition by Frida. She was so much freer in this no than she was with ABBA's songs, not that the latter were not amazing pop. She really let loose with her power, intensity and emotions. The tune itself was gripping and the arrangement exquisite. The video was hauntingly beautiful. Frida did an excellent job with the song.

Interview with Frida on November 9th, 1978 from this children's TV programme where she talks mainly about filming the Olivia! show and the recording process. This clip is availale on the Frida DVD released in 2005.
If you're carefull you'll notice that at the end of the clip she cries a little bit.
