As regards Queen v U2 live, I'd agree with some posters in here - it's a matter of opinion + taste. Me? U2 anytime and I'm in here listening to this 23 years after it was performed.

I agree with what you have said here, but just because Freddie can't be as intimate doesn't mean he's a bad performer. It's just his style of performing. I'd call him epic/outrageous haha.

first of all let me say that I absolutely love Live Aid. Secondly, I love that he sings part of "Satellite of Love" by Lou Reed before he starts Bad.

Sure, there are many Queen songs Bono couldn't pull off. I was responding to the post that no one can equal Freddie. Just stating that the opposite is true as well. There's no mathematical formula for figuring out who is better. It's all opinion. I think they both were amazing on this day.
By: LeaTay. on 01 Dec 08, 21:40:14
yes actually, it does. It is VERRY anoying.

And of course Freddy Mercury is an absolute genius...there is no doubt. And sure, they could have ruled the day, and maybe they did...comparing perfection to perfection is an exercise more suitable to combatants...enjoy both performances for sure! And guess what? It's very real and was! That's what you can't find anymore, genuine people who care for each other. Wonderful stuff kids:)It will all come back, you just have to care a bit for your fellow man (and woman). I digress.....still, enjoy!

Well...I understand and appreciate any and all debates...it's not a contest, but I can tell you, without any reservations, and only from my perspective, that this day, this performance, was the greatest ever...remember, you had to 'be' there...the day, that day, and this performance, emotions and all things considered, was the greatest that I have ever seen....and I have not seen everything, but I have seen a lot. ok...politically correct division...just enjoy it and know a bit about it, thanks!

just as there are several songs of Freddie's that Bono couldn't pull off....so what
By: Franckdatankpart2. on 01 Dec 08, 07:22:47
that part [wide awake] is very hard to sing
By: modeo92. on 30 Nov 08, 21:06:29
Freddie or anyone else couldn't pull off what Bono does here. Just try to imagine Freddie in place of Bono during this performance. Freddie would hardly look natural; he'd look ridiculous. I know some are going to say Bono looks ridiculous, but they're the overwhelming minority. Bono has the ability to be epic and intimate in the span of one song. You see a lot of younger performers copying Bono's moves, but none of them would think of attempting this, much less pull it off.

he is good on live, i agree, but i think no one can equal Freddy we hav to admit it, Bhoemian Raphsody is a masterpiece and so hard to be sang live, and i think Freddy is more natural than Bono, sorry....

I have been a fan for almost 30 years and I am almost soley concerned with the music, but, with regards to Greg Carroll (spelling?), he died in a motorcycle-accident in his native New Zealand...I believe the place was called, 'One Tree Hill', but, leave no doubt that that song is about him.
By: sbhdawn. on 29 Nov 08, 23:30:59
Love Love Bono and his music. I am a really serious fan of Steve Perry, but lately I must admit I have been cheating a little with Bono!! Can't I have 2 loves?

U2's live performance at Live Aid 1985 is one of their best concerts ever! And after all these years and for a long time to be they are simply the best band ever.
By: jimnaughton1. on 29 Nov 08, 21:25:38
btw, the guy fetching the microphones and running around, that was Greg Carrol, who died shortly thereafter and where the song, 'One Tree Hill' gets it's name, subject and inspirations.

Truly, the most incredible, and magical live musical moments that I personally have ever witnessed and am aware of..pure emotion, happiness, joy, everything....perfection in the imperfection, and humanity. This moment helped the world and catipulted U2 to heights unimaginable. The best memories of my life...and there are many...enjoy, cos, it ain't over yet!:) More u2 in a few months....prepare for the next chapter...

bono's voice is awesome.
By: modeo92. on 29 Nov 08, 18:26:34
This is way off topic, but a lot of people watch this. Does everyone go all the way to the first page of your favorites when you click on "back"? It used to be that I'd go to the last favorites page I was on, but now I have to go through them all over and over. It's annoying.
By: dimboh. on 29 Nov 08, 11:23:33
simply the 2 greatest front men of bands ever Freddie and Bono just edged ahead Of Jagger whos 3rd!!!!
