G Rap killed it. Big Daddy Kane was in his prime. He could do no wrong on the mike.

Hard To Handle was Otis Redding's if I remember correctly.

Goddamn, this track goes hard, I'm 17 and I live in the south....fuck Wayne, he'll never have lyrics like these, this is what I call a hit song.

Craig G's style here was much simplier than Kane's, Masta Ace's, or G Rap's. He didn't have a lot of internal rhymes on this one. he just basically rhymed the end of every line. Still, the sympony is awesome. Such a masterpiece!

I don't think the beat belongs to the Dead. They did perform the song live every once in a while (there's a version on "Fallout From The Phil Zone"), but I think that was about it.
By: moderatepopulist. on 24 Oct 08, 23:16:38
i always thought the beat was sampled from "hard to handle". so, that must mean the beat belonged to grateful dead bcuz this was about '88 or '89, right?
By: rawtrancer. on 24 Oct 08, 13:50:19
blacks weren't alive that time.
By: efil4own1. on 23 Oct 08, 13:46:00
Something I noticed...during Kool G. Rap's verse, when he's robbing the bank, there's a poster with his picture on it that says "WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE"--that was also the name of his second album.
By: efil4own1. on 23 Oct 08, 13:41:43
"Hard To Handle". The Black Crowes did a rock version of that song in 1990, and it's also been covered by the Grateful Dead and the Commitments.
