Marcia and her band turn in three hour sets with just one break. Zinnington, you need to be hip before you can judge others that know the meaning of the word. She has the best band and the finest performer I have seen. I would recommend "Presumed Innocent" and "Peace, Love, and BBQ" as starter albums. I think you will see what I mean. Cheers....

About 20 years or so ago, Marcia Ball did a PSA for the "Don't Mess With Texas" campaign, and I had an immediate crush on her. See how her leg bounces back and forth? When she's on a regular piano, she taps the leg of the piano with her foot as she plays. She was wearing a short red dress in the PSA and was quite a hottie back then (not that she looks bad now).

hey you guys, i opened up for you guys one night in luchenbach and i met don bennett and marcias current drummer and i thought we tore it up pretty good and the crowd was havin fun. well, when marcia started, the first 30 seconds into it, the crowd forgot all about us. then in the sons of hermann hall a few years later don was havin a terrible time playin with a headache, i turned him on to B.C. POWDERS, and in 10 minutes he was back strong. i love you guys.

An amazing talent. I remember a few years ago, I think it was Rolling Stone that reviewed one of her new releases, might have been the one with this song. They called her singing average, and her piano playing adequate. Never read that rag since then, Marcia is always gonna be in my top ten.

Thank you so much for posting the special on Eva. I think it originally aired in 1999 or 2000. I missed it back then, missed the rerun a few months afterwards and continously look for it. My mom first saw it and told me about how amazing she was. I've been a fan ever since!

i have just discovered this pure gem that was Eva Cassidy. I first listened to her sing Imagine and it took my breath away. Never would I have thought that anyone could sing that song so beautifully. Then i heard somewhere over the rainbow. Words cannot describe how completely stunned I am. She was pure, raw and real talent, and the fact she passed away at such a young age is a tragedy. I just wish more of the world got to hear her voice. She is completely astonishing

Thats funny cos I was about to up & respond to the error in the gramar misinterpretation of :- "I remember her last performance at Blues Alley" But Vaga you got it covered! ;) Just wanted to also say I had heard of Eva Cassidy only briefly, had heard "Fields of Gold" & thought it wonderful! OK, Eva was diagnosed with malignant tumor in 1993, which means in medical terms a tumor that gets progressively worse. The tumor was removed. However, the cancer was spreading without her knowing about it. The Blues Alley concert was in January 1996, her last concert was at Bayou in September 1996 and Eva had passed away in November 1996. Who is to say she was NOT in pain in January ? Eva might have not payed attention to it. Perhaps madrigal had noticed something no one else had seen. OK ?

"madrigalpictures" is not saying that Eva's last concert was at Blues Alley. "I remember her last performance at Blues Alley" means that the LAST TIME she performed AT Blues Alley. She performed there several times. Otherwise, it would be like "I remember her last performance which was at Blues Alley". You should know that :-)

I remember her last performance at Blues Alley. I was already a fan and I can tell you that before a note was delivered, we were all already in tears. Imagine a concert where you see a great figure still at her peak having difficulty holding her guitar pick yet now showing the pain in her face or not allowing it to affect her music. It was the most extraordinary moments in music history, at least for those of us who experienced her music in person. RIP, Eva.

What an emotional ending to a movie this would be: During an event for the Live at Blues Alley CD in July 1996, Cassidy noticed an ache in her hips. A few weeks later, Cassidy was diagnosed with melanoma. By the time of her diagnosis, the cancer had spread throughout her body. Her final performance was in 1996. At the performance, she had used a walker to reach the stage, sang "What a Wonderful World" in front of an audience, and was subsequently admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital.
