The only additional item I would have liked to have seen on this video is proof that either a) the battery has been removed and the laptop is running just off the power adapter, or b) that the laptop shows a charge indicator instead of running on just battery power. Not saying it didn't work, as I'm sure it did judging from the load on the "watts up" meter, but not a complete test. And like SteveNordqu said, the generator and source of caps would be nice to know.,

I am not an expert on li-ion batterys ,but what about the internal battery monitoring system ? you really can't bypass it unless you rip it apart. My laptop is 5 years old & I have never had a problem with the battery even after 5 years. This is a really bad thing to do you are at risk of frying the battery moitoring chips & the id chip doing this. If you want longer life go buy a battery made for your laptop which has more power shorting a li-ion bat is very bad like 5000 F Fire bad !

It could have been anything. Dielectric grease? I guess it depends on whether or not your camera is fully weather sealed. If you were exposed to the bad stuff (the liquid electrolyte), you would have severe skin irritation. There are no chronic health effects from exposure unless the battery contains cobalt, which is a carcinogen. So in short, you should be fine.

This is known as battery "zapping". You use very high current to blast away whatever is causing internal resistance. You can do this with anything, I've seen people use welders. Any type of DC power supply will work as long as the current is greater than that of the battery. It works best on NiCad. In the case of Li-Ion, the internal resistance is caused by oxidation, so zapping doesn't work quite as well. You can also decrease Li-Ion resistance with heating (which is all this may be doing).

my comment is in regard to the lithium battery dangers. I tore open a lithium camera battery pack out of curiosity. Well, the battery leaked, this smelly substance got on my hands and I inhaled it. So my is Q:what are the dangers of this type of exposure?
