Rushdie didn't expose anything about Islam, he just posited about Muhammad's origin. I don't recall him really saying anything too negative about the faith, considering his views on religion. And really now, Christians and Jews have been talking about how evil the third faith was for quite some time. And to be fair, Islam reciprocated somewhat.
