I noticed a few interesting things about this cartoon... First there's a part where traditional music is played on a guitar. Second, the story gives the impression to be based on a Nô theatre piece. Third, I can't shake the impression it's a "Chinese ghost story" avant la lettre :) In the end the weirdest thing is, that it's drawn very much in the 30's American cartoon style and it's full of anachronisms in the storyline. Very uncharacteristic in my opinion, and therefore special :)

I like this short it shows alot of work in the early stages of the film, panning to the right or leftfocus out of focus all things you would expect to find in a real life action film. she is the goddess of chinese music. I used to listen to her music when I was a kid & my older brother loved her songs when we were in vietnam. it's sad she die pretty young. I really missed her. although, i don't understand mandarin & understand some cantonese but it all good. we called her manh le quan in vietnam.
