Any time you're clicking "restore" on iTunes, your ipod will be wiped completely. It takes everything off of the iPod, and replaces it with the new firmware.

Well it is going to restore your ipod so all your apps arnt going to on it any more but you can put them all back on to the ipod with a click of a button (sync)
